How did I get infected with?

It may seem like SpeeDownloader popped out of the blue, but it didn’t. In actuality, the tool sought your permission to enter. It asked whether you approve its admission. And, you evidently, did. Because, here’s the thing. If you don’t allow its installation, it cannot go through with it. So, with that in mind, do you remember when you gave your consent? Do you even remember the exchange taking place? Do you remember anything at all? Odds are, you don’t. And, that’s expected, considering the program doesn’t outright seek your consent. What if you choose to refuse it? The infection doesn’t take that chance. Instead, it turns to trickery and dupes you into giving it the green light. The usual antics involve freeware and spam email attachments. But it can also hide behind corrupted links or sites. Or, pose as a fake system or program update. Like, Adobe Flash Player or Java. Do you see the pattern here? There’s a common denominator between all the methods, the infection uses. They all rely on your carelessness. They need it to succeed in fooling you into installing a cyber threat. Without it, no access. So, make sure not to grant it. Be extra thorough when installing tools or updates. Check out the terms and conditions before clicking that YES at the bottom. Due diligence can save you a ton of troubles. Choose caution over carelessness. One leads to infections, while the other helps to avoid them.

Why is this dangerous?

Among SpeeDownloader’s claims of usefulness, you find the ‘saves you money’ one. Most adware tools tend to push that one. The program states that it helps you save money. Supposedly, by displaying the best deals, bargains, sales every day. And, by providing coupons, as well. Your screen gets overwhelmed with pop-ups, which are useless. Don’t get fooled that they help you in any way. They don’t. All they do is take over your screen, and cause nasty repercussions. Yes, their incessant display slows down your PC. And, also causes frequent system crashes. Well, the pop-ups do help someone. But, as was already expressed, it’s not you. The pop-ups help the cyber criminals behind the program. They help them generate revenue. The more they bombard you with ads, the bigger the odds you click on them. And, every click, by accident or choice, creates profit. SpeeDownloader is a standard ad-supported program. Its entire existence relies on its ability to make money for the people behind it. If it fails, they take it down. So, the tool does its best to avoid the fate of oblivion. It floods you with advertisements of every kind. And, don’t think they’re random. The application selects them for you, and you alone. They correspond to your personal interests. If you wonder how it makes that distinction, easy. It spies on you. Oh, yes. It keeps close track of your every online move until it learns what you like, and what appeals to you. Once it does, it begins the bombardment. But it doesn’t stop at only observing your online activities. It also catalogs your browsing. It keeps a record of everything you do while surfing the web. So, it has a hold of your personal and financial information. And, the infection doesn’t only steal your private data. It exposes it to strangers, as well. It hands it over to the cyber criminals that published the program. Are you willing to allow these malicious individuals into your private life? Here’s a hint: don’t. Delete the SpeeDownloader adware at once. It’s for the best.
