How did I get infected with?

Ssoption is not an ingenious parasite. Quite the contrary: this adware is a simple application. It needs your, the user’s, permission to get installed. No permission, no admission. That’s the rule. The parasite is bound to ask. And it does. It asks in the sneakiest way possible. The parasite lurks in the shadows and waits for you to let your guard down. This parasite hides in bundles, spam emails, and torrents. All it needs to succeed is one moment of carelessness. Don’t give it that chance. No anti-virus app can protect you if you act recklessly. Ssoption is not the only parasite that uses these distribution strategies. This time, an adware parasite tricked you. If you don’t change your habits, there will be a next time. And you may not be that “lucky.” Always take the time to do your due diligence! Download software from reliable sources only. When installing an app, pay close attention to the fine print. When available, use the advanced/custom setup option. Under it, you would be able to deselect all bonus programs that are about to get installed. Very often, the apps we download off the web come bundled with extra programs. These extras, more often than not, are parasites like Ssoption. Make sure you know what you install on your OS. Read the terms and conditions before you agree to them. If you notice anything suspicious, abort the installation process immediately!

Why is this dangerous?

Ssoption is very intrusive and irritating. This parasite doesn’t miss a chance to interfere with your daily web browsing. It doesn’t matter whether you type a search query or watch a video, the adware is always there to annoy you. It floods you with ads, as well as redirects your browser to third-party pages. This pest knows no boundaries. It gets more and more aggressive with each passing day. The worse part is that it is not limiting itself to flooding your browser. The parasite exists to make money for its owners. These people cannot rely on you clicking on random adverts. They’ve programmed the adware to display appealing, targeted ads. Ssoption studies your browsing habits and bases its ads on the gathered data. In other words: it spies on you and uses the collected information against you. The adware follows you around the web not only to interrupt you with ads. It analyzes your actions, as well. When it deems it has enough information, it sends it to a remote server. Anyone can access it there. The crooks use it to create irresistible adverts. They would then push these ads to you through the adware. The crooks show you what you want to see, but when you click, bad things happen. The nasty Ssoption parasite turns you into an easy target! Spare yourself many future headaches. Remove the adware before it gets a chance to cause you harm!
