The Omnibox virus is classified as an adware-type nuisance. It goes after your browsers and modifies their default settings. What’s much worse is the fact Omnibox doesn’t bother to seek your permission. Instead of taking your own opinions into consideration, the virus ignores you. After all, this is a creation of cyber crooks. Hackers are solely focused on their own benefits that they gain out of the parasite. What benefits exactly are those? Firstly, let’s talk about how adware words. As soon as Omnibox gets successfully installed, it adds a browser extension. That means your favorite browsers fall victims to the parasite’s shenanigans. They might start crashing or freezing so don’t expect surfing the Web to be enjoyable. You overall PC speed may get significantly slowed down due to the infection’s presence. Omnibox is more than capable of destroying your entire online experience in the blink of an eye. However, the very first thing that will catch your attention are the pop-ups. Adware-type viruses are famous for displaying a great variety of advertisements. Omnibox does the same thing. The virus alters your browser settings in order to force its pop-ups on you. Unfortunately, these commercials are very problematic and you must stay away from them. Nothing generated by a nasty PC infection is to be trusted. That includes the parasite’s pop-ups, pop-unders, banners, interstitials, video ads. Don’t get fooled into clicking any of these deceptively safe commercials because they certainly aren’t reliable. Adware generates one specific category of ads – sponsored ads. In other words, this pest allows hackers to gain profit through the pay-per-click mechanism. The only reason you’re stuck with its commercials is to help crooks make money. And, as you could imagine, their profit comes at your expense. Clicking a sponsored commercial open is an incredibly unwarranted risk. As we mentioned, Omnibox was created to boost web traffic and to help hackers gain revenue. How did I get infected with?

Infections like this one rarely need the victim’s authorization. Instead, Omnibox probably applied some sneaky, secretive infiltration technique. The most plausible scenario is that this pest was bundled with other programs. You see, bundled freeware/shareware is the most commonly used virus infiltration method out there. Getting your device infected isn’t a difficult task either. All you have to do is rush to download a certain program bundle off of the Internet. Voila. In case hackers have attached a virus to the program package, you end up installing the virus. Just to make the mess greater, this infiltration tactic keeps you oblivious to the fact you download an infection. However, there may be a whole bunch of parasites in a single bundle. You could install adware infections, PUPs, hijackers, even ransomware and Trojan horses. We strongly recommend that you opt for the Custom option in the Setup Wizard instead of the Basic one. Take your time during the installation process and take care of your PC. Skipping steps may seem like a good idea but it actually leaves your computer system vulnerable. You may notice that some unwanted program is trying to slither itself onto your PC. Don’t hesitate to deselect it. Otherwise, you will have to uninstall an infection which is indeed a bigger hassle.
