The phony human verification process used by scammers to deceive users into granting push notification access. This can be accomplished by creating a fake verification page or pop-up, such CAPTCHA or reCAPTCHA, that looks to be a human verification. The fraudster may ask the user to perform actions like answering questions, clicking buttons, pressing links, etc. to make it appear as though a real human verification was performed. However, the primary goal of this hypothetical human verification is to obtain push notification rights. Once a user consents to push notifications, con artists can utilize it to display advertising, phishing sites, or other harmful content directly on the user’s device.
