Can’t Remove Info.hta? This page includes detailed Info.hta Removal instructions!
Info.hta is a harbinger of bad news. The dreadful Dharma ransomware drops this file. Its appearance indicates that your PC is no longer free of infections. If your files have unusual extensions, you are in for trouble! The nasty ransomware has managed to sneak into your OS undetected and is now wreaking havoc. Dharma follows programming to spread its roots around your entire operating system and to corrupt the user-generated files. It alters settings, corrupts essential directories, drops files, and starts malicious processes. This, of course, happens without any noticeable symptoms. You can’t catch the virus in time to limit the corruption. The ransomware is notorious for its stealth. It wrecks your computer in complete silence. This virus is after your pictures, documents, databases, archives. It uses an AES encrypting algorithm to lock the user-generated data. It puts your files under lock and key and drops the Info.hta file which is its ransom note. This file is a text document that briefly explains the situation, as well as urges you to contact the virus’ operators via email. Don’t swing into action! If you contact the criminals, you will get engaged in unequal negotiations. The crooks promise a solution in exchange for an astonishing ransom. Don’t underestimate these people! You are dealing with experienced criminals. Drama ransomware has been active since 2016. The criminals know how to manipulate their victims. Contacting them is a mistake!
How did I get infected with Info.hta?
A ransomware menace drops the Info.hta file. As for the virus – it sneaks into your computer through trickery. Don’t imagine ingenious cyber attacks, though. The ransomware relies on your naivety. It hides in the shadows and attacks when you let your guard down. This menace lurks behind fake updates, corrupted links, pirated software, malicious websites, and spam messages. There are myriads of malware distribution methods. The ransomware invaders, however, tend to rely on emails. The good old spam messages are still the number one virus distribution method. Their scheme, however, is not as simple as it used to be. The crooks no longer rely merely on corrupted files. They still use them, of course, but they also embed malicious links. One click is all they hope for. Don’t make their job easier. Be careful with your inbox. Whether it’s an email or an instant message, treat all unexpected messages as potential threats. Always take a minute to verify their senders. If, for example, you receive an email from an organization, go to their official website. Compare the email addresses listed there to the suspicious one. If they don’t match, delete the pretender. You can also enter the suspicious addresses into a search engine. If they were used for questionable activities, someone might have complained online. Even a little extra attention goes a long, long way! Always take the time to do your due diligence!
Why is Info.hta dangerous?
The appearance of the Info.hta file is your clue. Your computer is infected with a havoc-wreaking virus. Ransomware has corrupted your files and holds them as hostages. Its operators promise a decryption tool in exchange for Bitcoin. Their choice of currency, of course, is not a caprice. The Bitcoin currency is untraceable! No one can help you get your money back once you transfer them. You can’t ask for a refund if something goes wrong. And that’s inevitable. Practice shows that the hackers tend to ignore their victims once they receive the ransom. There are cases when the victims got blackmailed for more. There are also instances where the victims received nonfunctional decrypting tools. Do not play games with criminals! You can’t win against these experienced manipulators. Your best course of action is the removal of the virus. As soon as the Info.hta file pops up, take action. Find where the virus lurks and remove it upon detection. The sooner you clean your PC, the better!
