How did I get infected with?

The Fastcanary hijacker does not hack computers. This parasite cannot do that. It’s not that advanced. The hijacker is not a virus, but a simple application. And just like any other app, to enter your system, it needs an invitation. It needs your approval. No permission, no admission! That’s the rule. Yet, as you can imagine, the hijacker knows how to steal your approval. The parasite knows how to trick you into installing it. It uses torrents, fake updates, spam emails, and software bundles. All it needs to succeed is one second of carelessness. Do not make its job easier. Choose caution over carelessness. Only your diligence can protect your computer. Stay away from shady websites. Download your software from reputable sources only. When installing an app, read between the lines. When available, use the advanced installation option. Under it, you would be able to deselect all bonus programs that are about to get installed. These third-party applications, more often than not, are parasites like the Fastcanary hijacker. Make sure you install trustworthy apps only. Read the terms and conditions (you can speed up this step by using an online EULA analyzer). If you detect anything out of the ordinary, abort the installation immediately!

Why is this dangerous?

The Fastcanary hijacker is intrusive and annoying. It interferes with your every online activity. But, don’t underestimate the situation. The hijacker is not a mere annoyance. It is quite dangerous. The hijacker needs clicks, and it’s ready to do anything to get them. The parasite studies your browsing habits and basses its ads on the collected data. In other words: it turns you into a target by spying on you. The hijacker monitors your every online action. Even the Incognito mode of your browser cannot hide you. It’s just a matter of time before the parasite discovers something sensitive. Even if it doesn’t, the collected data is still more than sufficient for the parasite to target you. In theory, if you enter “sneakers” into a search engine, you would get ads for sports shoes. In practice, however, you get drowned in a sea of unreliable advertisements. The Fastcanary hijacker has no security mechanism. Numerous crooks use this pest to target potential victims. They prepare customized adverts and force them on you. The crooks show you what you want to see, but when you click, bad things happen. You risk ending up on scam and infected pages. The crooks want to either convince you to install rogue programs or to trick you into revealing sensitive information. As for the Fastcanary hijacker, it works to their advantage. The parasite turns you into an easy victim. Don’t allow this madness to continue a minute longer. Remove the hijacker ASAP! The sooner you clean your computer, the better!
