How did I get infected with?

Belly Setup malware is not a virus. It cannot hack your computer. No, it’s an adware parasite. It follows the standard installation rules. The adware needs your (the user’s) approval to get installed. No permission, no admission. It’s very simple. Yet, if you give into naivety, if you rush and act impulsively, you may install the parasite unintentionally. The sneaky Belly Setup adware lurks in the shadows and waits for you to make a mistake. It hides in software bundles, fake updates, and torrents. All it needs to infect your OS is one moment of carelessness. Do not let your guard down. No anti-virus app can protect you if you act recklessly. Only your caution is powerful enough to protect your device. Always take the time to do your due diligence. Don’t visit shady websites. Download software from reliable sources only. And make sure that you know what you install. Most of the apps we download off the Web come bundled with “bonus” programs. The extras get installed automatically if you don’t deselect them. As you can imagine, that’s hazardous. These unknown, third-party tools, more often than not, are parasites like Belly Setup. Do not let parasites sneak behind your back. Use the advanced/custom setup option. Under it, you would be able to deselect all unwanted programs. And don’t skip the terms and conditions. If you cannot go through the whole document, scan it with an online EULA analyzer. Stop the installation if you notice anything suspicious.

Why is this dangerous?
