How did I get infected with?

Unfortunately, hackers could be very creative when it comes to parasites and their distribution. That means crooks have plenty of methods to choose from in order to get you infected. Remember, you have to be extremely careful anytime you download programs off of the Internet as this is the most common way to let an infection enter your device. Bundled software, for example, could be very dangerous if you aren’t careful enough. Let’s be honest, not many of us have the habit of reading the Terms and Conditions when we install freeware. Crucial mistake. The only way to notice on time that there is something malicious attached to the free software in the bundle, is to go through all programs one by one. It may take some time but just think about how much damage not paying attention could cause you. WikiTime is a considerably easy virus to remove but ransomware, Trojans and some other incredibly virulent programs travel the web applying the same tactics. Always opt for the Advanced/Custom option and deselect any kind of software that you don’t trust. Needless to say you should also avoid third-party web links, spam email-attachments and suspicious looking ads.

Why are these ads dangerous?

Could a computer virus ever be safe? Even just the fact that it entered your device in complete silence is a good enough reason for you to be suspicious and delete WikiTime on the spot. Adware infections seem to appear out of the blue and we highly recommend you to remove such a parasite as soon as you detect its presence. Why? Because adware and WikiTime in particular will continue to apply their sneaky techniques. Only now that the virus is on your PC, it’s a lot more dangerous. First and foremost thing you will notice are the infamous WikiTime ads. Being an ad-supported program, this parasite has a loving relationship with all kinds of pop-ups, pop-unders, banners, in-texts, hyperlinks, intestitials, etc All of them are annoying and all of them are unreliable. Hackers get paid to redirect you, so sometimes you’ll see completely safe web pages and sometimes you will be displayed corrupted malicious web pages filled with parasites. Clicking the ads is the only to find out what kind of ad you’re dealing with but is it really worth it? Hackers have absolutely no reason to take care of your computer so you have to stay away from all commercials. However, how do you avoid something that’s constantly in your face? The WikiTime ads are incredibly intrusive as they will cover up most of your screen space thus making browsing the Web nearly impossible. The virus also collects some browsing-related information for marketing purposes but it might try to get access to personally identifiable data as well. We don’t really need to explain to you why such information must not get in the hands of cyber criminals. Overall, WikiTime poses a huge danger to your device as well as your personal information and has to be stopped on time. In order to get rid of it manually, please follow the instructions bellow.
