How did I get infected with?
When it comes to finding an entry point in your system, SearchScope knows all the tricks of the trait. A preferred method of infection is through freeware. When users are installing freeware, they are not nearly as attentive as they should be. Most of them agree to all the terms and conditions in haste, without bothering to read them. That’s one sure way to get stuck with SearchScope, or worse. Other ways of infiltration involve the use of corrupted websites, corrupted links and spam email attachments.
Why are these ads dangerous?
Once you’re stuck with SearchScope, know that your browsing activities will be monitored. Every page you visit, every Google search you make, everything will be catalogued. That’s because SearchScope needs to know which ads to show you, i.e. which ads have a better chance of resulting in a click. Since the application is ad-supported, every click results in revenue. But, and this is a big “but”, aside from your Google searches, SearchScope will also have access to your personal information. It will be part of the data SearchScope has collected on you, which is sent to the unknown third parties behind it.
