How did I get infected with?
Adware, in general, as well as RateItApp in particular, are immensely resourceful when it comes to finding a way into your system. They usually slither in by turning to the old but gold means of infiltration. RateItApp’s most commonly used method is through freeware. That’s because it provides possibly the easiest way into your PC. How come? Well, for reasons unknown, most users have decided to pay little to no attention when installing freeware. They rush the whole process and, what’s worse, skip reading the terms and conditions altogether. Instead, they rely on luck, and just agree to everything in haste. That’s a poor, poor strategy, and it almost always leads to horrendous repercussions. Instead of throwing caution to the wind and hoping for the best, be more diligent! Don’t give into naivety and distraction! Try to remember that a little extra attention can save you a lot of troubles and headaches.
Why are these ads dangerous?
RateItApp is a deceitful and unreliable tool, despite what it tries to get you to believe. Disregard its marketing campaign as the picture it paints is entirely bogus and made up. The program’s advertised as useful. Supposedly, it improves your browsing experience, not worsen it. Well, that would have been fantastic! If it were true. But it’s not. It’s all lies! In reality, the application falls short on every single promise it makes. It’s nothing more than your average, run-of-the-mill adware. Shortly after it invades your system, it reveals itself by commencing a never-ending bombardment of pop-up advertisements. Due to the ads incessant appearance, as they’ll pop-up every time you try to go online, you’ll quickly begin to experience more unpleasantries. For one, your computer’s performance will slow down to a crawl. Also, your system will start crashing frequently. And, these are just a part of the less significant issues you’ll be faced with due to RateItApp. Some of the more severe ones include a malware risk, as well as a security threat. To elaborate, the malware risk arises from the overall unreliability of the program’s pop-ups. They’re bundled with all kinds of malicious tools, and each time you press an ad, you agree to install the tool hiding behind it. Remember, a click equals more unwanted malware! So, don’t click. As for the security threat, it comes from the fact that the PUP starts spying on you from the second it settles in your system. RateItApp keeps track of your browsing activities and catalogs every move you make online. When it decides it has gathered enough data from you, it sends it to the unknown third parties that published it. Think on that. Strangers will have access to your personal and financial information. Are you going to allow that? Don’t. Do yourself a favor, and delete RateItApp the first chance you get. It’s for the best.
