It doesn’t matter which search engine you use. My1tab can corrupt the results. After all, this application is installed on your PC. It has full control over your web browser. This utility won’t stop with the corruption of your search results. No, it will drown you in a sea of commercials. Every website you visit will soon be covered with ad banners, in-text ads, and pop-up messages. Every time you try to follow a link, additional links will be opened in your browser. On top of that, you will get constantly redirected to unknown websites. With the time passing, the marketing campaign will get more aggressive. You will start to avoid your computer. How did I get infected with?
The My1tab utility did not materialize by magic. No, it was cleverly distributed to your computer. It has an official download, yet, most of its users aren’t quite sure how it ended up on their machines. This is so because they were cleverly deceived. The My1tab hijacker uses many sneaky techniques to reach its victims. Freeware bundling, spam emails, torrents, fake software updates, malvertising, etc. Yet, all these techniques have something in common. They rely on your negligence and carelessness. As any other program, the My1tab utility needs your permission to operate. No permission, no access. So, the crooks have found a way to bypass your explicit approval. They attach their malicious programs to the installation files of other legit programs. When you initiate the installation of such a software bundle, you will be presented with two installation options: a standard one and an advanced/custom option. Which one do you prefer? If your answer is the standard one, change your habits. The standard installation wizard is completely automatic. Once you initiate it, you lose control over it. It will install all extra apps that have arrived in the bundle. Always choose the advanced setup wizard. Under it, you will be able to examine all tools that are about to be installed. You will be given a choice. A choice to select which apps you would wish to install. Examine the list of programs carefully. These third party apps, more often than not, are malicious. So, read the terms and conditions. Install only the ones you trust.
Why is this dangerous?
The My1tab hijacker should not be tolerated. This utility is annoying and invasive. It injects adverts on all opened websites, opens pop-ups and redirects your browser. Yet, it can also be quite dangerous. This utility has no verifying mechanism. Anyone willing to pay can use its services to promote. Hackers included. They often take advantage of such applications. One click on a corrupted advertisement can download more malware or viruses directly on your computer. Yet, even if the ad is not corrupted, it is still not worth your time. As these commercials are not verified, they are likely to arouse unwarranted expectations. They may also redirect you to websites partaking in scams.
