The adware is a program that is actually installed on your machine. This malicious app can make changes to your system. It modified your web browser’s settings. It can bypass parenting control tools as well as ad blocking applications. Yes, that is right. The adware is forcing ads on you. How did I get infected with?

To operate on your computer, the adware needs one essential thing – your approval. And you provided it. No joke here. You gave it your permission to operate on your device. But don’t be too harsh on yourself. The malicious utility didn’t ask you openly. Developers have found ways to mislead the user into giving such permissions. They would add the adware as an extra program to the installation file of many free programs. They would also hide the presence of this extra under a custom/advanced installation wizard. If you select the standard installation method, all additional programs will be installed without further ado. However, if you select the advanced option, you will be presented with a list of all extras that are about to be installed. We strongly recommend deselecting all additional apps. They are described as useful tools, yet, if you truly needed such instruments, you would have downloaded them by yourself. Don’t burden your machine with applications you don’t use or need.

Why is this dangerous?

The adware is displaying numerous ads. These advertisements can be annoying and distracting, yet, they can be also harmful. The malicious utility uses the so-called pay-per-click marketing system. For every ad you click on, the owners of the adware will be paid. There is nothing bad in this system. In fact, all big search engines use it. However, unlike them, the adware has no filtering mechanism. Anyone willing to spend some money can use its services to promote. Hackers often use adware applications to spread corrupted ads and links. If you have the misfortune to click on a malicious ad, you will be redirected to an infected website. There, a drive-by download will be executed. These types of downloads are completely automatic. They are almost invisible and don’t require the user’s interaction. Only specialized software can notify you if such an event occurs. However, you or your computer may not be fast enough to cancel this process. For all these reasons, drive-by downloads are often used for malware distributions. Of course, not all ads displayed by the adware are malicious. Yet, there is no way to tell which is which. Try not to click on any advertisements while this parasite remains active on your machine.
