How did I get infected with?

You can be certain that Megashop did not arrive on your system because you willingly installed it. This cannot happen because the program is not officially represented, which means that there is no website you can download it from. Megashop is most likely to have entered your PC together with dubious freeware that came from third-party file-sharing websites. When you download and install applications from such websites, you also unwillingly acquire a bunch of other programs that include adware, browser hijackers, and other infections. They get installed as additional during the setup of the chosen app, however, you could prevent that by completing each setup step carefully and declining any unwanted software. To be able to do that you need to select Custom/Advanced setup option, not the other quicker one. Still, it is best if you simply rely on official sources when it comes to downloading software.

Why are these ads dangerous?

It does not make any difference whether Megashop ads will present you with some exclusive offers for the item you have wanted to have for so long or they will be rather random. Whatever the case, you should not interact with Megashop ads because you may end up installing more malware on your PC. This is due to the fact that each of the ads displayed by Megashop contains a link to a third-party website. These websites belong to the sponsors of the application who are unknown and might as well be malicious. Thus, clicking a Megashop ad and landing on a malicious third-party web page can only have damaging consequences. It is up to you whether you will let that happen or not. Ignore Megashop ads as much as possible to prevent harm to your computer. It also your responsibility to keep your data protected by removing the Megashop application to cease its monitoring activity. Do not hesitate to do that now because it might be too late if you leave it for later on.
