How did I get infected with?

When it comes to finding a way into your system, Icarus is incredibly masterful! The program is so skilled in the arts of deceit that it has no problem infecting your PC. The application not only manages to sneak in, but also successfully keeps you oblivious to its presence. That’s right. You have no clue that you were duped into allowing a dangerous adware tool into your computer, and that it’s now lurking somewhere wreaking havoc. More often than not, the program infiltrates your system with the help of the old but gold methods of invasion. That includes hiding behind spam email attachments, corrupted links, or websites. It can also pose as a false system or program update, like Java or Adobe Flash Player. However, the application’s most preferred means of infection is through freeware. Users don’t pay nearly as enough attention as they should during its install, which provides possibly the easiest entry point for this harmful and malevolent infection. Users rush, don’t read the terms and conditions and just agree to all of them, not expecting that there will be any repercussions to their haste, naivety, and distraction. Well, there are. But by the time they realize the error of their ways, the damage is already done. Be more careful and don’t rush! That way, you won’t be forced to deal with adware like Icarus.

Why are these ads dangerous?

Once Icarus makes its way into your system, it lays low for a while before it reveals its presence. During its “lurking period”, the application studies you. It’s programmed to spy on you and keep a thorough record of everything you do. It monitors your browsing activities, catalogs your every move, and when it determines it has gathered enough data from you, sends it to the individuals that support it. That means strangers with questionable intentions will have access to your personal and financial information, and will be able to use it as they see fit. Are you willing to hand your private life to malicious people with agendas? Think long and hard before you decide. Shortly after infiltration, the application commences a bombardment of pop-up ads, which will interrupt your online experience every time you try to browse the web. Apart from causing frequent system crashes and slowing down your computer’s performance, these ads also pose great danger. As was already mentioned, despite placing your privacy in grave jeopardy, Icarus also presents you with a severe malware threat. That’s because the pop-ups it floods you with continuously are immensely unreliable. If you click on even a single one, you’ll inevitably end up installing more malevolent tools without even realizing it. Weigh the risks carefully before you decide whether or not it’s worth the gamble to keep Icarus on your computer.
