Do you see ads triggered by Abrts.pro? Maybe you are constantly redirected to the Abrts.pro website? In both cases, we have bad news for you. Your computer is infected with the Abrts.pro adware. Do not panic! We can help you remove this infection completely. Let’s take a moment to explain what adware is. First of all, it is not a virus. It is a malicious program that has managed to enter your computer. It is installed on your system and has full control over your web browsers. Yes, browsers. If you have more than one installed, be absolutely sure that all of them are infected. The malicious app has modified their settings and turned them into spying devices. Your online activities are now monitored by the adware. Which websites you visit, search inquiries, etc. It uses this information to target advertisements for you. Thus, if you enter “sneakers” into some search engine, the adware will start displaying coupons and discounts for similar items. The Abrts.pro adware does exactly this. It displays advertisements for items that you want and need. It sounds good, right? Don’t judge the book by its cover. You cannot trust anything displayed on your screen. The adware blocks it competitors’ offers and replaces them with its own. You will see only the content you are allowed to see. You will see coupons, discounts and great deals on every website you visit. Pop-up messages will startle you all the time. Every time you try to follow a link, the adware will redirect you to other websites. You will hate the experience. On top of that, your computer will also start to perform poorly. All these issues are due to the Abrts.pro utility running on your system. Luckily, you can put an end to this madness. Follow our guide or download a trustworthy anti-virus program. It is up to you to clean your PC.
How did I get infected with?
Even though it is malicious, the Abrts.pro adware is still a program. As any other program, it needs the user’s approval to operate. What it does not need is to ask you openly. The furtive application uses trickery to enter its victims’ computers. The most commonly used method is the bundling technique. It is brilliant in its simplicity. Developers attach additional programs to the installation files of many free programs. When you start the installation of such a bundle, you will face two installation methods: a standard one and an advanced option. If you select the standard/fast setup wizard, all extra tools that were attached to the bundle will be installed without your further approval. Yet, if you select the advanced option, you will be presented with a list of all apps that are about to be installed. These third party tools, more often than not, are malicious. You can deselect all of them and still install the program you originally planned to set up. Take your time to consider the situation. If you truly needed such applications, you would have downloaded them by yourself. Make sure you understand what you are giving your permission to. Read the terms and conditions/EULA. If you spot anything out of the ordinary, abort the installation immediately. Other malware distribution techniques include spam emails, torrents, and fake software updates. A little extra caution can prevent these techniques from succeeding.
Why is this dangerous?
The Abrts.pro adware is a menace that must be removed upon discovery. This utility is a hole in your security wall. Viruses can use it to enter your PC. As you already know, the adware displays numerous advertisements. What you don’t know is that these commercials may be corrupted. The Abrts.pro app has no checking mechanism. Hackers often use it to spread malicious content. One click is all it takes for a virus to be downloaded on your device. There, unfortunately, is no way to tell which adverts are corrupted and which are not. You cannot avoid them either. The adware is programmed to redirect you to the promoted websites and to open pop-up messages right under the cursor of your mouse. Eventually, it will trick you into click on a malicious ad. However, the malicious commercials are not the only issue you must know about. It is far more important to be informed that the adware is spying on you. It monitors your online activities and sells the collected data to third parties. As strange as it may sound, there are many potential buyers. They range from desperate marketing agents to dangerous hackers. That is right. Hackers are interested in your data. The adware, after all, can record your usernames, email addresses, bank accounts, passwords, etc. Can you imagine the consequences if such sensitive information becomes a possession of a hacker?
