How did I get infected with Hotcleaner?

The Hotcleaner’s parasite sneaks into your computer through trickery. This parasite can’t get installed without your (the user’s) consent, so it tricks you into infecting your computer. Sadly, that’s the reality. Hotcleaner uses false advertising to lure you into downloading and installing PUPs. The parasite, of course, can also reach your PC through bundles, fake updates, spam messages, and pirated software. There are numerous PUP distribution methods. These tricks prey on your naivety and carelessness. Don’t make the crooks’ job easier. Be vigilant and doubting instead. Your diligence can prevent infections. The good news is that even a little extra attention can spare you an avalanche of issues. So, don’t be lazy. Choose caution over carelessness. Always take the time to do your due diligence! Download software and updates from reputable (preferably official) sources only. And don’t skip installation steps. Forget about the “Next-Next-Finish” installation strategy. When available, use the advanced/custom setup wizard. Deselect the unwanted extras and go through the terms and conditions. Don’t hesitate to abort an installation process if you notice anything suspicious!

Why is Hotcleaner dangerous?

The Hotcleaner’s app is a menace. It ruins your browsing experience and threatens to redirect you to dangerous websites. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. If you take a close look at the PUP’s ads, you’ll realize that you are in serious trouble. You are under surveillance! The ads are not random but targeted at you! The PUP spies on you from day one and uses your preferences against you. Do you think that ends well? Do you feel comfortable knowing that a parasite monitors your activities? Do you believe that the people behind Hotcleaner use the collected data for ad targeting only? Do not fool yourself! You are dealing with people who don’t have your best interest in mind. Once they gather enough data, they waste no time and sell everything on the black market. If you run out of luck, some pieces of data, your search queries, for example, could leak personal and financial details. Do not test your luck! Hotcleaner is dangerous. Its parasite has no place on your computer. Remove it before it gets a chance to cause you serious harm.
