However, given enough time, this application will turn your browsing experience into a living nightmare. It will flood you with advertisements. Not just ad banners. Your ad-blocking software will not be able to stop this ad invasion. Soon, your screen will be covered in adverts. Coupons, great deals and discounts will appear everywhere. Including on websites that used to be ad-free. Well, those sites are still ad-free, it is the adware that forces advertisements on them. And this is not the end of the torture. How did I get infected with?

BoxBob is a real program that was installed on your machine. It did not appear as if by magic. Someone installed it. And this person was you. You have no one to blame. Your carelessness is the reason why you are suffering now. But don’t be too harsh on yourself. BoxBob deceived you. To be installed on your computer, it needs your permission. However, its developers have found a way to trick you into giving such permissions without realizing what is going on. The malicious utility was probably a part of a bundle you have downloaded and installed. The so-called freeware bundling method is quite popular nowadays. Developers would attach extra programs to the installation files of many free programs. Once you start their installation, you would be asked which method you prefer. The standard/fast installation method or the advanced one. Even though it’s the recommended option, the standard installation wizard hides potential risk. It is completely automated. Once you initiate it, you will not have control over it. Everything that has come in the bundle will be installed without further ado. You can prevent this. Use the custom installation. This process is not complicated. Don’t trust anyone who says otherwise. It is a simple step-by-step installation wizard. Just like the standard one. Yet, only under the custom wizard can you deny the installation of all additional programs that come along. Don’t hesitate to do so. These third party applications can never be trusted. Furthermore, if you truly needed such tools, you would have downloaded them by yourself.

Why is this dangerous?

Every ad you see hides potential danger. Adware applications are often used by hackers for spreading malicious content. If you click on a corrupted ad, you will be redirected to an infected website. There, a drive-by download will be executed. Such downloads start without the user’s interaction and are almost completely invisible to the user. One click is all it takes for a malicious virus to be downloaded to your device. So, try not to click on ads while BoxBob remains active on your computer. Well, it is easier said than done, though. The malicious app will try to trick you into clicking on advertisements. At the most unexpected times, it will open a pop-up window right under the cursor of your mouse. And that is not all. BoxBob has more tricks up its sleeve. Have you noticed that all advertisements you’ve seen lately are somehow related to your interests? This is so because the adware knows what you are searching for. This malicious utility is constantly spying on you. Yes, that is right. It monitors your online activities and uses the collected data to select ads especially for you. Thus, for example, if you entered “sneakers” into some search engine, the adware will bombard you with tons of ads for similar items. This tool jeopardizes your security. It can “see” everything you do online. Including which websites you visit and, unfortunately, your usernames and passwords. The thing is, BoxBob will not keep this data for itself. It will make it available for sale to third parties. And, anyone can be that third party. It may be some desperate marketing agent or a dangerous hacker. Don’t risk your security. Track this intruder down and delete it on the spot!
