We’ve provided for you an easy removal guide down bellow and if you want to learn a bit more about this malicious cyber infection, you’ve come to the right place. MetroCleaner is promoted as a useful cleaning tool when in fact all this program does is jeopardize your security and bombard you with commercials. The MetroCleaner ads are actually distributed by a pesky PC virus classified as adware and a PUP (potentially unwanted program). Such threats are famous for their sneaky ways and secretive tactics and the more time they spend on your device, the bigger danger they put you in. Apart from the obvious frustration caused by the MetroCleaner commercials, it will also serve as a back door to malware and you can be sure that your browsing experience will be significantly troubled as well. Don’t waste any time and get rid of this malicious program as soon as possible.
How did I get infected with?
Such parasites usually travel the Web bundled with freeware. That means in most cases you might download a virus completely unwittingly. The good thing about MetroCleaner is that it exposes itself rather quickly but there are much more virulent infections out there that could infiltrate your device by stealth and remain on it for an unlimited period of time. If you think having a virus is scary, how about having a virus and now knowing about it? Luckily, there are some efficient ways to protect yourself and your computer. First of all, always pay attention to the installation process instead of rushing through it and clicking “Next”. If you encounter something unfamiliar or simply a program that you don’t want on your PC, deselect it. Secondly, those extra 5 minutes you need to go through the Terms and Conditions might save you lots of problems later on. Also, it’s a rule of thumb to stay away from unverified websites, spam email-attachments, messages from unknown senders, etc. Always be cautious when it comes to your online activities and don’t let hackers fool you.
Why are these ads dangerous?
The MetroCleaner virus definitely isn’t safe however harmless it may seem. The program adds a browser add-on or an extension to all your browsers (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer) and injects them with its pesky commercials. Your browsing experience will be inevitably obscured. The virus constantly displays pop-ups, pop-unders, banners, interstitials, in-texts, etc. and if you want to keep your PC safe from more malicious content, avoid all the advertisements. Even if some commercials seem especially attractive to you (and they might as the virus steals browsing-related information and adjusts the ads to make them appealing), they are incredibly unreliable. The commercials might lead you to some corrupted web pages filled with parasites thus infecting your machine much more. Hackers have absolutely no reason to take care of you as they will keep displaying their sponsored links on your PC screen with or without your consent until you finally remove the virus.
Also, don’t get tempted to download any software or additional toolbar that MetroCleaner shows you. Not only will such installations burden your machine even more, they might also involve you in some cyber scam or just directly infect you with malware. To top it all, thanks to MetroCleaner’s presence on the device, you will witness some slowdowns and even your Internet connection might experience difficulties. If you want to get rid of this nasty infection manually, please follow our detailed removal instructions.
