VideoConvert (VideoConvert.com) is the nth browser hijacker out there. It’s an irritating cyber infection that takes over your browsers. Furthermore, it exposes you to malware. The sooner you manage to get rid of this nuisance, the better. Despite being a hijacker (one relatively easy to tackle virus), it isn’t harmless. The VideoConvert virus has plenty of tricks to offer. Remove the intruder on the spot and regain control over your hijacked browsing experience. Now, how does the parasite work? Its shenanigans begin by adding an extension or a plugin to your browsers. All your browsers. By installing this pesky add-on, VideoConvert injects your browsers with sponsored web links. It goes without saying that your permission isn’t required. Hijackers don’t get developed to help you surf the Internet. No, this program’s main purpose is a lot more prosaic and upsetting. The virus generates web traffic to some specific pages. These websites don’t necessarily have to be harmless, though. Thanks to the hijacker, you’re now one click away from potentially dangerous pages filled with malware. The question is, are you going to keep VideoConvert on board knowing just how tricky it is? Ignoring this nuisance instead of deleting it ASAP would be a terrible mistake and you know it. TvideoConvert also modifies your default search engine and browser homepage. Whether you’re interested in having your browsers changed or not, is irrelevant. What’s important here is the illegitimate profit hackers gain out of boosting web traffic. Not only do your browsers get altered but you also get exposed to malware. As mentioned, VideoConvert won’t provide accurate search results. It will provide quick access to sponsored web links that you must avoid. In addition, you get constantly redirected to random websites. Once again, this is part of the parasite’s trickery. Restrain yourself from clicking anything brought to you by the hijacker. Remember, nothing is as harmless as it appears it be. All links currently on your PC screen are tailored. They might be leading you directly to more infections. To prevent further damage, avoid these web links. Also, avoid the commercials and other ads VideoConvert may generate. The hijacker is able to display some fake program updates so watch out for those as well. As if that wasn’t enough, VideoConvert slows down the PC speed. It also causes your browsers to crash/freeze on a daily basis. To delete this program for good, please keep on reading.
How did I get infected with?
One notoriously easy technique is called bundled software. Crooks can’t miss the fact that most PC users download unverified programs. Hence, all they have to do is attach a malicious “bonus” infection to a seemingly safe bundle. Voila. Unless you check out every single program one by one, you may end up compromising your PC. It’s just that simple. To protect your machine, you must always pay attention during the process. Opting for the Custom option, for instance, allows you to spot a stealthy intruder. Make sure you deselect any program you don’t trust. Some of the most vicious and aggressive kinds of infections travel the Web via bundles. We’re talking about sneaky Trojan horses and ransomware. As you can see, preventing installation is a much better option than having to remove a virus. Don’t gamble with your safety. Taking care of your device is your responsibility and yours only. We would also recommend that you stay away from illegitimate freeware and shareware bundles. Never skip installation steps as that leaves your machine vulnerable to parasites. The Web is infested with potential infections so don’t overlook any threat.
Why is this dangerous?
All your favorite browsers get modified. You’re no longer even in charge of your own online experience. Do you see how immensely dangerous that is? The hijacker redirects you, it generates bogus pop-ups and fake search results. It also leads to a poor PC performance so your computer speed is slowed to a crawl. Using the device in general turns into a cyber nightmare. VideoConvert monitors your browsing-related data as well. That is correct, the hijacker jeopardizes your privacy. It steals about as much sensitive details as it possibly could. Your browsing history, IP addresses, email addresses, usernames and passwords. Consider all your sensitive data stolen and sent straight into the hands of hackers. Those are the very last people who should be having access to your information. Before you know it, hackers could sell your data to third parties. If they do, you may fall victim to a financial scam or even identity theft. Needless to say, this pest simply has to go.
