If you get greeted with the “Google Security Warning” pop-up, brace yourself. You’re in trouble. The pop-up appears due to an infection, lurking somewhere on your computer. One that falls under the scamware umbrella. Scamware is not something to underestimate. These types of programs are a plague on your system. They use slyness and subtlety to sneak in. And, not only do they succeed, and invade your system. But, they do it without you even realizing it. That’s right. They slither in undetected. You only realize, the tool’s there, after its programming kicks in. It’s not long after its infiltration that you get flooded with issues. They cause emotions that range from a mere annoyance to a full-on panic attack. Scamware application are also called scareware. That’s not for nothing. These are programs, crafted to cause fear. Their purpose is to throw you into a fit of frenzy, and exploit you. If you’re scared, you’re not thinking straight. And, if you’re not thinking straight, it’s that much easier for cyber criminals to take advantage of you. Money is what they want. Don’t let them have it. Don’t fall for the scheme. Above all, know that it’s just that – a scheme. It’s a giant scam, a sham, a fake, a fraud. You see lies, generated from a false program, unleashed by cyber criminals. Don’t let them get their hands on your money. Or, your personal and financial information. Keep your private life private. Don’t buy what they’re selling. Literally! The scamware, you’re stuck with, attempts to get you buy a supposed AV tool. It’s all fake! Remember that, and don’t succumb to the lies.

How did I get infected with?

The deceitful tool, bombarding you with the “Google Security Warning” pop-up, tricked you. You got duped. The program fooled you into installing it yourself. Oh, yes! You installed it. Odds are, you have no memory of that. But you did. How come? Well, programs like that one, need user’s permission to enter. Your permission. They have to ask for it on their way in. And, unless you grant it, no admission. But, seeing how often the dreadful pop-up appears, you granted it. You have no memory of the exchange, because you weren’t careful enough. Let’s explain. Most online infections prey on carelessness. They need it to succeed in their sneaky attempts. They prefer the old but gold means of infiltration. Like, hiding behind spam email attachments. Or, freeware. Or, fake updates. Think about it. If you are extra cautious, odds are, you’ll catch the cyber threat in the act. And, prevent it. But most users aren’t. Instead of being thorough, they’re careless. They rush, and don’t bother to read the terms and conditions. They click that YES at the bottom, and hope for the best. Well, that’s a strategy that tends to lead to infections. Don’t employ it. Instead, turn to vigilance. Do your due diligence. Attention goes a long way. But carelessness is a one-way path to cyber threats.

Why are these ads dangerous?

It’s scary to turn on your PC, and see a”Google Security Warning” pop-up. It’s frightening to read that your system is in trouble. That it harbors a multitude of malware. That you should call the provided number at once. That, if you don’t, your predicament will worsen. It’s not a pleasant experience. But do you know what? It’s also not real. It’s a lie, created by cyber criminals. Don’t buy their smoke and mirrors. Don’t allow yourself to get spooked by these malicious individuals. They want your money. More often than not, these scams end with the suggestion to buy some AV program. If you do, that will, supposedly, get rid of the pop-up alerts. But, until then, you WILL see them. And, your system IS in danger. Or, that’s what the criminals want you to believe. Sometimes their lies are well-managed. Other times, not so much. The “Google Security Warning” pop-up does not mean you should call a “technical support number.” It doesn’t mean you should then listen to these “experts” and their “helpful advice.” It’s all a scam. There aren’t enough ways to stress that. The “Google Security Warning” pop-up only means there’s a scamware tool on your PC. Find its hiding place, and remove it. You’ll see that, following its removal, all will get back to normal.

How Can I Remove “Google Security Warning” Pop-ups?

If you perform exactly the steps below you should be able to remove the infection. Please, follow the procedures in the exact order. Please, consider to print this guide or have another computer at your disposal. You will NOT need any USB sticks or CDs.

STEP 1: Uninstall suspicious software from your Add\Remove Programs

STEP 2: Delete unknown add-ons from Chrome, Firefox or IE

STEP 3: Permanently Remove “Google Security Warning” from the windows registry.

STEP 1 : Uninstall unknown programs from Your Computer

Simultaneously press the Windows Logo Button and then “R” to open the Run Command

Type “Appwiz.cpl”

Locate the any unknown program and click on uninstall/change. To facilitate the search you can sort the programs by date. review the most recent installed programs first. In general you should remove all unknown programs.

STEP 2 : Remove add-ons and extensions from Chrome, Firefox or IE

Remove from Google Chrome

• In the Main Menu, select Tools—> Extensions
• Remove any unknown extension by clicking on the little recycle bin
• If you are not able to delete the extension then navigate to C:\Users\”computer name“\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions\and review the folders one by one.
• Reset Google Chrome by Deleting the current user to make sure nothing is left behind

• If you are using the latest chrome version you need to do the following
• go to settings – Add person

• choose a preferred name.

• then go back and remove person 1
• Chrome should be malware free now

Remove from Mozilla Firefox

• Open Firefox
• Press simultaneously Ctrl+Shift+A
• Disable and remove any unknown add on
• Open the Firefox’s Help Menu

• Then Troubleshoot information
• Click on Reset Firefox

Remove from Internet Explorer

• Open IE
• On the Upper Right Corner Click on the Gear Icon
• Go to Toolbars and Extensions
• Disable any suspicious extension.
• If the disable button is gray, you need to go to your Windows Registry and delete the corresponding CLSID
• On the Upper Right Corner of Internet Explorer Click on the Gear Icon.
• Click on Internet options

• Select the Advanced tab and click on Reset.

• Check the “Delete Personal Settings Tab” and then Reset

• Close IE
