How did I get infected with?

Unfortunately, this plain question could have hundreds of answers. Adware programs are very hard to keep track of as they usually infiltrate machines in a stealthy manner. That way you can infect your own PC absolutely unwittingly by not paying enough attention to the installation process. The “Next” button looks really attractive, yes, but taking some additional time always pays off in the end. Make a thorough check on everything you agree to install and don’t miss a single installation step. Our recommendation is to use the Advanced/Custom download option and avoid unverified web pages when it comes to freeware. Also, keep in mind that the Terms and Conditions might contain some terms and conditions that you strongly disagree with. Be careful and cautious so you can keep your computer safe. AutoTinker could also be hidden in a spam email-attachment or a fake program update or even a simple message from an unknown sender.

Why are these ads dangerous?

As we mentioned already, programs from the adware family are considered the least dangerous out of all viruses. They are still viruses though. First of all, AutoTinker is annoying beyond belief. The tons of commercials that it brings along are not even remotely beneficial regardless of what AutoTinker’s developers stubbornly keep claiming. You know better than to trust them. The program injects your browser (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox) with a continuous  pile of pop-ups, pop-unders, banners, interstitials, sponsored links, etc. AutoTinker will very soon reach a point where you will find both your computer and your patience overwhelmed. That it precisely the point where you get rid of the virus for good. Long story short, every page you visit will be covered with commercials and seeing anything else other than coupons and discounts will practically become quite difficult. That’s how AutoTinker works and that’s how it affects your browsing speed and even Internet connection. Not only are these ads irritating with their very presence, they are also extremely dangerous as well. The hackers standing behind AutoTinker have one goal – revenue. Do you really think your safety is something they worry about? If paid enough, hackers will redirect you to basically any third-party website and you can expect such websites to be filled with cyber parasites. It is impossible to tell which advertisement is safe and which is corrupted but having in mind what AutoTinker is and why it exists, our advice is to avoid every single link the virus offers you. Just to make things worse,  AutoTinker collects browsing information and it’s highly likely that hackers will find a way to gain profit out of it, for example, by selling it for marketing purposes. Don’t waste time and don’t let yourself be manipulated by cyber criminals. In order to delete AutoTinker manually, you can follow the instructions below.
