How did I get infected with?
The Active Discount application does not have an official representative website, which means that it is not officially distributed. This is something common for most of the adware programs and it should not surprise you at all. The way Active Discount and other adware programs usually enter users’ computers is attached to freeware. This means that Active Discount is now residing on your computer probably because you downloaded and installed a free program you found on an unknown file sharing website. These programs never arrive on the system alone, so if Active Discount is on your PC, you should know that there is more than one unwanted application you have to deal with. As we all know, prevention is the best solution, so what you could do to prevent adware from infiltrating your computer is to only use official sources when you acquire software, and to be extremely careful during the setup process.
Why are these ads dangerous?
Active Discount ads will start appearing on your screen as soon as the application gets installed on your PC. If you remember when that happened, it will be easier for you to determine the exact time you got infected and to figure out the way it has happened. Still, since Active Discount is already on your PC and you are seeing ads by it, you should beware because this signifies how vulnerable your system is. The existing adware may worsen the condition of your computer by making it slower and may serve as a gateway for other infections targeted at it. What is more, you are constantly exposed to potentially malicious third-party content by the numerous Active Discount ads as they contain links to third-party websites that might be spreading viruses. Hence, staying away from the ads is one way to keep your system clean.
