Can’t Remove Web Optimum ads? This page includes detailed ads by Web Optimum Removal instructions!
Are you constantly disturbed by a parade of commercials? By commercials we mean a never-ending mess of confusing pop-ups, various pop-unders and banners in various shapes, interstitials, video ads, etc. If the answer to that question is “yes”, you’re dealing with adware. Unfortunately, such an excessive amount of commercials is a clear sign of trouble. Could you possibly keep on browsing the Web at peace knowing some infection is lurking on board? Probably not. In this particular case the virus currently harassing you is named Web Optimum. Don’t even for a minute mistake that sneaky infection for a legitimate, harmless application. Despite its bogus functionalities, Web Optimum is nothing but a virus. Classified as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) and adware, this tool is incredibly dangerous. Do you know what its biggest advantage is which motivates hackers to keep on developing adware-type viruses? That adware doesn’t appear to be virulent at first glance. However, the more time Web Optimum manages to spend on your PC system, the more damage it will cause you. As we mentioned, this program may not seem to be particularly vicious. That’s the trick. Once Web Optimum has successfully deceived you, it starts wreaking havoc behind your back and takes control over your Internet experience in practically no time. Does that sound like fun to you? Trust us, it isn’t. To begin with, Web Optimum modifies your browser settings. As you could imagine, the virus doesn’t bother to ask for permission or authorization of some kind beforehand. Now that your browsers are effectively infected, get emotionally prepared for commercials. Discounts, coupons, product deals, product offers, best prices, price comparisons – the pesky web links are everywhere. One important piece of information about this program is the fact it’s entirely ad-supported. Money is quite a prosaic explanation of the endless pile of pop-ups on board, don’t you think? However, thanks to the pay-per-click mechanism and other similar monetizing techniques online, hackers gain easy profit online. That’s why you can’t get rid of pop-ups right now. The more advertisements Web Optimum generates, the more revenue crooks will collect. What’s problematic, though, is that this infection doesn’t discriminate between safe and unsafe ads. You might accidentally end up on a malicious website full of parasites. It’s highly recommended to stay away from all web links displayed by this tricky parasite. Otherwise, you may jeopardize your own safety and privacy.
How did I get infected with?
Among the many virus distribution techniques on the Web, possibly the most popular one at the moment is bundled freeware. It’s just as simple as it sounds. And yes, it’s effective. Freeware or shareware bundles offer cyber criminals an extremely convenient way to spread all types of infections online. That includes irritating adware-type pests, intrusive browser hijackers, vicious Trojan horses, even the dreaded ransomware viruses. Having in mind how often PC users download questionable software bundles off of the Internet, it comes as no surprise that Web Optimum got to you. In the future, restrain yourself from installing illegitimate programs, especially if they come bundled. And especially if they come for free. Always take your time in the installation process to make sure you’re aware what exactly lands on your machine. Skipping steps only guarantees you speed and leaves your PC vulnerable. Opt for the Custom/Advanced option in the Setup Wizard instead of the Basic one. Also, you know these Terms and Conditions you don’t read? Reading them keeps you in control of the installation so no potential intruder could stealthily get installed. Don’t underestimate the great danger bundled freeware hides and be careful with the installation. Remember, your caution will definitely pay off.
Why are these ads dangerous?
Web Optimum modifies your browsers in order to serve hackers’ malicious purposes. Not yours. The parasite installs a browser extension or an add-on which is compatible with Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer so now all your browsers are injected with advertisements. Apart from being annoying beyond belief, impressively intrusive and very stubborn, the Web Optimum ads are also harmful. The were never meant to be trustworthy as they might lead you directly to malware. To prevent further harm, restrain yourself from clicking any of these web links. Commercials, third-party pop-ups, product deals, even software updates – whatever Web Optimum generates is highly unreliable. In addition, the virus is also known to be stealing browsing-related information including browsing history, passwords and usernames, etc. Once hackers get free access to your private data, they will not think twice before selling it to third parties. Your private life online is no longer private. Web Optimum also slows down the PC speed and causes your browsers to often crash/freeze. To uninstall this nasty infection manually, please follow the detailed removal guide that you’ll find down below.
