How did I get infected with?
FlashControl is a master of trickery and finesse. It’s so resourceful in its methods of invasion that you don’t even see it coming your way. That’s right. The application not only fools you into approving its installation, but it also manages to keep you oblivious to the fact that you did. You’re utterly clueless to its presence until it wishes otherwise. More often than not, the program deceives you into allowing it in by hitching a ride with freeware as it’s possibly the easiest entry point. That’s because, most users tend to rush through its installation and don’t pay nearly as enough attention as they should. They don’t bother reading the terms and conditions and just agree to all of them in haste. They end up paying for their distraction and naivety, but by the time they realize the mistake they’d made, the damage is already done. Other means of infiltration include hiding behind spam email attachments, corrupted links, or sites or pretending to be a bogus update. To avoid adware like FlashControl, make sure to be extra cautious. Remember, a little extra attention today can save you a lot of troubles tomorrow.
Why are these ads dangerous?
FlashControl is an ad-supported application, which is why it continuously throws pop-ups your way. Since its entire existence relies on its ability to trick you into clicking on its ads, it does everything it can to increase its chances of success. As each click counts, the program makes sure each ad counts, as well. How? Well, it studies you. Once it gains access and settles into your system, it starts to observe your online activities so as to better understand what your preferences includes. After it learns to distinguish your likes and dislikes, the application selects the appropriate ads to bombard you with. The ads, which have a better chance of sparking your interest and result in a click, i.e. cash. But don’t fall victim to the tool’s treachery! Ignore the ads no matter how appealing they seem! The program’s pop-ups are incredibly unreliable, and a click only results in more unwilling malware installations. Unfortunately, the threat of unknowingly agreeing to install more malevolent tools will pale in comparison to the security risk the program places upon you. Unfortunately, it doesn’t merely monitor your browsing. It keeps a thorough record of everything you do online, and when it deems it has enough data from you, sends it to the third parties behind it. After your information falls into their hands, they can use it as they see fit, and there’s nothing you can do to stop them. Are you going to grant access to your private life to strangers with agendas? Are you willing to take such a gamble? Think long and hard before you answer.
