Can’t Remove Remove Nightmare Malware pop-ups?
The so-called Nightmare Email Scam is yet another sextortion scam. Its scheme is simple. The crooks pretend to be hackers who have infected your device with a nasty virus. They claim that their parasite has managed to record videos of you during private moments, as well as copied your contact lists. The crooks threaten to send the compromising videos to your friends, family, and colleagues if you don’t comply with their demands. Some of their messages seem particularly convincing as they mention passwords that you’ve used in the past. Don’t panic! The crooks behind the Nightmare email scam have nothing against you! These criminals buy databases of leaked login credential, as well as use scamware to accumulate targets. They use your fears against you. The crooks want you to panic and swing into action. Don’t make their job easier. Recognize the Nightmare email for what it is – a warning of how dangerous the Internet can be. Use strong passwords and don’t share sensitive information online. Of course, if the email mentions a password that you still use, go through your accounts and set new passwords. Make sure that your accounts are protected, because if they are not, the real hackers won’t warn you via email – they’ll cause you harm.
How did I get infected with?
Scamware spreads the Nightmare email scam. These parasites sneak into your computer and throw you into a whirlwind of deceptive messages, ads, and web pages. The parasites corrupt your web browser and open it to social engineering attacks. Don’t, however, jump to the conclusion that you are a victim of an advanced cyber-attack. The scamware parasites are simple apps. They get installed only with the user’s approval. No permission, no admission! The parasites, of course, know how to ask. They do so in the sneakiest, most deceitful way possible. They use fake updates, corrupted links, pirated software, spam notifications, and malicious ads. The parasites hide in the shadows and wait for you to let your guard down. Do not make that mistake! No anti-virus app can protect you if you throw caution to the wind. The key to the secure and infection-free computer is diligence! Only your actions can prevent infections. So, don’t be lazy. Always take the time to do your due diligence! Don’t visit dodgy websites. Download software and updates from reliable (preferably official) sources only. And forget about the “Next-Next-Finish” setup strategy. When available, use the advanced/custom installation option. Deselect the bonus software and go through the terms and conditions. Don’t hesitate to abort the installation if you notice anything suspicious!
Why are these ads dangerous?
The Nightmare email scam is a nasty one. Its messages pop up out of the blue and ruin your mood. They are aggressive, threatening, and highly infuriating. If you, however, take a moment to consider the situation, you’ll see right thru the lies. Note that the messages don’t mention your name or username. They don’t specify which website was used to infect your computer. And most importantly, they don’t provide proof of the video’s existence. You are dealing with experienced manipulators. Everything that the Nightmare email mentions is there for a reason. The crooks take advantage of common misconceptions and your fears to steal your hard-earned money. Do not become a sponsor of cybercriminals! No one can help you get your money back if you make the mistake to pay the “ransom.” The crooks want Bitcoin. This currency is untraceable. Once you make a transaction, the money is gone forever. So, don’t make mistakes. If you suspect that your computer harbors scamware or some other type of malware, run a virus scan. If your anti-virus app detects problems, fix them. Delete the scam messages and move on. Don’t let the scammers ruin your day!
